A date between the sexes hold good when women go out to enjoy themselves without men, but there are always questions as to what usual rules apply.

There’s obviously no uncertainty about being the first to suggest the idea. Nothing against enquiring if your ally is in funds, should whatever entertainment is proposed cost. And little umbrage is likely to be taken if the other person gives a candid reason as to why they can’t make it.

A successful girls’ night out is no insurance against the need for sociable discourse. Going dutch is the usual practice but an alternative is to take it in turns to stand the damage. Being meticulous about paying your dues with your own sex is an unwritten rule, as the hidden agenda that might exist in an amorous date between man and woman is absent.
